Dear
UST Customer:
As you may
already be aware, the state of California has made changes to the
California Code of Regulations, title 23 (23CCR) which will impact
the way you inspect your underground storage tanks (UST) today.
This change will be effective January 1, 2005.
The regulation
states the following:
No later than
January 1, 2005, UST owner or operators must submit a signed statement
for each facility that they own to their local agency which states
the following:
- The UST
owner or designated operator understands and is in compliance
with all UST requirements.
- Identifies
the "Designated UST Operator" for each facility.
The regulation
also clearly identifies the need for the "designated UST Operator"
to obtain a "California UST Operator" certificate issued
by the International Code Council (ICC). This certificate can only
be obtained by passing the California UST Operator state exam. The
exam must be taken and passed every two years for the UST Operator
certificate to stay current.
California
Environmental Services can help you during this time of change.
